just watched the HR Pufenstuff movie with my daughters. My dad would
not let me see it when it came out. I never knew why... Having seen it
for the first time tonight I have a pretty good idea... It's a deeply
disturbing exploration of mental
illness... A young boy is bullied by a kid and falls into a marching
drum, hitting his head. The rest of this story follows his hallucinatory
descent into madness culminating in the horrifying barbecue sequence
where a giant tomato worm is slow cooked and fed to witches. Lars Von
Trier directed this under the name Hollingsworth Morse... Chilling,
bold, visceral film making at its bravest...
